About

Wild Roots Guiding.

Wild Roots Guiding was founded in 2020 by Anna Danby. Anna is a qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader with a professional background in education & leadership and over 20 years experience of walking, running and climbing in the mountains.

Since childhood Anna has been fascinated by the natural world, seeking out adventures and always curious to find out why landscapes look the way they do. This inspired her to focus her studies to deepen her understanding of the natural world in order to be able to share it with others.

She worked in the informal education sector for many years, latterly as the Learning Manager at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. The only science centre in the UK dedicated to Earth and Environmental Sciences. Since then, moving to the Highlands has allowed her to combine her professional career with a lifelong love of exploring wild places and having great adventures.

Over the past five years the team has expanded to include four highly experienced and qualified guides who all share the Wild Roots ethos of enabling you to challenge yourself in wild places, gain new skills and confidence whilst also learning about and connecting to the landscapes you move through.
